Genetics, weakened gum, use of antibiotics and drugs, consumption of refined food and beverages are some causes of discoloration .
Commonly observed discoloration is yellowing or black staining of the teeth. It is primarily caused by smoking and the consumption of tea or coffee. The molecules in these products penetrate into the enamel tissue and cause discoloration. Without the consumption of these products, staining may occur due to the accumulation of plaque on the teeth if they are not brushed regularly.
The predominance of bacteria that can cause discoloration in our oral flora is another reason that should be considered in tooth discoloration.
